Stewardship Charter
Purpose
The UBKDS Stewardship Body exists to publish, protect, and evolve the UBKDS standard without allowing drift.
This stewardship is intentionally restrained.
UBKDS is designed to be a universal standard, not a private product.
Mission
To maintain a durable, teachable, and implementable standard for organizing business knowledge.
What Stewardship Means
Stewardship means:
- publishing canonical terms and structure,
- maintaining a public version registry,
- controlling change classification,
- and protecting the meaning of UBKDS.
Stewardship does not mean:
- controlling how organizations implement their tools,
- owning or hosting an organization's content,
- or turning the standard into a vendor platform.
Scope of Authority
The Stewardship Body has authority over:
- UBKDS.org as the canonical publication site,
- the Canonical Registry,
- canonical terms and definitions,
- versioning rules and governance posture.
The Stewardship Body does not claim authority over:
- an organization's internal knowledge,
- proprietary extensions,
- or tool-specific implementation.
Core Commitments
- Stability
- UBKDS should change deliberately, not frequently.
- Clarity
- Definitions must remain simple and teachable.
- Neutrality
- The standard should not favor any vendor tool.
- Transparency
- Changes must be visible and versioned.
Versioned Evolution
UBKDS will evolve through:
- Clarifications
- Amendments
- Revisions
All recognized versions will be published in the Canonical Registry.
Public Benefit
UBKDS is intended to improve knowledge integrity across:
- businesses,
- schools,
- nonprofits,
- and other organizations that rely on process and operational clarity.
